Cambridge English: Young Learners - a series of fun, motivating English language tests

Dear Teacher

This is to let you know that starting with January 2016, British Council will organise YLE exams on the school premises for a number of minimum 20 candidates no matter the level (StartersMoversFlyers).

We would like to assure the schools who cannot meet the minimum number of candidates that British Council will make all the efforts to accommodate their students in one of the open sessions advertised in advance on our webpage.

Schools need to contact the British Council at least eight weeks before the date of the written exam. Approval to hold a closed session is only possible at the request of a school/ institution with the prior written consent of the British Council.

Cambridge English: Young Learners is a series of funmotivating English language tests, aimed at children in primary and lower-secondary education. This gives students a clear path to improve in English.

Starting with May 2015, the Cambridge English: Young Learners (YLE) Movers and Flyers certificates are the only certificates corresponding to levels A1 and A2, respectively on the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) accepted as a linguistic competency for the admission test to the 5th grade English intensive classes. Students holding such a certificate will automatically receive grade 10 in the English language admission test.

According to document no. 40029/19.05.2015 issued by the Ministry of Education for local school inspectorates, in order for their certificates to be recognised, the learners must obtain a minimum of 11 shields (4 shields in two skills and 3 shields in another skill) at the Cambridge English: Young Learners Movers or Flyers exam.

Since it is the beginning of the school year, you might find it useful to print some posters for your classes, so please find a few examples below:
